On November 15th, the inaugural meeting of Special Committee on Thyroid and Parathyroid Diseases of SCIMEA, sponsored by Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association and co-organized by West China Hospital, Sichuan University, was held in Meishan, Chengdu.
Professor Zhu Jingqiang, chief physician of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, Li Chao, chief physician of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, Huang Yan, associate professor of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Jiang Yong, associate physician of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Wu Jian, chief physician of the Third People's Hospital, Shi Hubing, professor of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Zhao Xiaobo, associate professor of Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College, Zhou Xiangyu, professor of Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, and several experts in thyroid related fields attended the meeting.
At the very beginning of the meeting, Professor Zhu Jingqiang, the representative of the preparatory group of the special committee and chief physician of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, reported on the preliminary preparatory work of the committee. He mentioned in the report that after half a year of deliberate preparation and with the strong support of the secretary-general and other experts from SCIMEA, the Special Committee on Thyroid and Parathyroid Diseases was formally established today. Then, Professor Zhu elaborated from four aspects, including the background of initiating the committee, the progress of preparations, the institution distribution of committee candidates, and the focus of the committee in the future.
Subsequently, elections for the special committee on thyroid and parathyroid diseases were conducted, and all the participants voted for the leaders of the special committee, including its chairman, vice chairman, standing committee, etc.
Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of SCIMEA, announced the Approval for the Establishment of the Special Committee on Thyroid and Parathyroid Diseases of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, and then granted a letter of appointment to the newly elected chairman. The chairman granted a letter of appointment to the vice chairman.
Professor Zhu Jingqiang, newly elected chairman and chief physician of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, mentioned in his speech that the main purpose of the special committee is to promote exchanges, and he hoped that everyone would actively participate in the events held by the special committee and actively carry out academic exchanges and clinical researches. Meanwhile it would pay attention to the personnel issues of the Youth Committee, and thereof promote the establishment and tour lectures of the Youth Committee. Professor Zhu exerted high expectations on the special committee, hoping that it could play a leading role in the industry, unite the majority of doctors related to the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid and parathyroid diseases, build a home of specialists for thyroid and parathyroid diseases, and promote the overall qualification of the doctor team of thyroid and parathyroid diseases in Sichuan Province.
Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, gave a brief introduction to the status and working ideas of SCIMEA. Secretary-General Zhang Mengfan first introduced the logo of the Association and its mascot "Doctor Baby", emphasizing the "differential development with characteristics" to “redefine the concept of the Association."
The secretary-general emphasized that next year SCIMEA would cooperate with Nature and Wiley to launch two English-language journals to provide a platform for academic publication. Last week, co-organized by Kobe Translational Research Center for Medical innovation (TRI) from Kobe Japan and Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, the "2019 China-Japan Advanced Medical and New Drug R & D Summit Forum and Achievement Transformation Conference" ended successfully, and the second session will be launched in July next year, which will continue to promote the rapid implementation and transformation of medical scientific research achivements.
At the same time, SCMIEA will launch the "Healthy ‘Star’ Strength Science Popularization" next year, and a Science Popularization Committee will be established by then. Meanwhile, through the interconnection with media platforms such as Tencent, Douyin (TikTok) and Weibo, a large-scale online health science popularization will be created to promote cooperation in various fields. In addition, all-round cooperation with Tianfu New Area, Wenjiang District, and Meishan City will be carried out to integrate "government, industry, universities, and research institutions" to realize benefits for all participating parties.
