Director Kang Yan first reviewed the establishment of the Critical Care Medicine Professional Committee. Thanks to the effective management and operation of the SCIMEA, the committee completed the preparation and establishment work efficiently. Speaking of the original intention of the Critical Care Medicine Professional Committee, he said that as a platform for international medical communication, SCIMEA served from different aspects and levels to broaden the international academic exchanges in critical care and promote the rapid development of critical care medicine. Director Kang Yan concluded that since its establishment on February 18, 2019, the committee has hosted two summit forums, six lower-level trainings, and two academic exchange activities, which included the China Critical Care Analgesia and Sedation Summit 2019, “Spring Wind” lower-lever project, Ultrasonic Root Action (a project to improve the quality of critical care diagnosis and treatment), West China Hospital Housen Critical Medicine Summer Camp, Dialogue with ICU-West China Hospital Travel, Basic Training Course On Neurological Critical Care, “Smooth Breathing” Mechanical Breathing Training Course, etc. He emphasized that in 2019, "Spring Wind" project involved thousands of people and five regions including Panzhihua, Suining, Beichuan, Xuanhan and Daying and satisfied the needs of primary academic communication. Also, it is an important method to promote the development of grassroots critical care medicine. Next year, under the leadership of the Standing Committee and all members, the committee will encourage more young members to participate in grass-root activities and popularize knowledge about critical care medicine. At the same time, Director Kang affirmed SCIMEA’s strong support to the committee. He pointed out that the academic exchange activities were of novel form, high level and high engagement, and the news reports of SCIMEA were highly professional, academic, timely, readable and appreciable.

In the future, the Critical Care Medicine Special Committee will continue to deepen grass-roots education and international communication. Also, more attention will be paid on core critical care technologies, daily clinical theories and foundations. As Director Kang said, it is the age of Internet information nowadays, and the technology and methods provided by Internet platforms can further promote and improve the quality of treatments. The committee must keep pace with the times and focus on it.
