On July 20, 2019, the second preparatory meeting for Professional Gynecology Committee of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) was held in Chengdu. A total of 29 specialists and professionals were in attendance, including the PGC initiator, Professor Wang Ping of West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Professor Zhang Guonan of Sichuan Cancer Hospital, Professor Zhou Honggui from the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College, Professor Zhang Yong of Mianyang Central Hospital, Professor Mao Xiguang from the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Professor Wang Yifeng of Panzhihua Central Hospital, and Professor Li Zhengyu of West China Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

        At the meeting, Wang Ping pointed out that the standing committee members of the Professional Gynecology Committee should be young, adept at communication, and representative in the field of gynecology. Later on, he explained the basic situation of SCIMEA, the status quo, development and major issues of gynecology, and the composition of PGC.

        Professor Wang emphasized the establishment objective and primary mission of the PGC: to better protecting and improve women’s health by further promoting exchanges and cooperations between Sichuan Province and international gynecology departments and building a platform for mutual assistance and cooperation in the fields of clinical medicine, education and scientific research; strengthening ties with international first-class gynecological hospitals, launching academic exchanges and international cooperations, enhancing the international reputation of Sichuan’s gynecology domain, offering an international stage for Sichuan’s gynaecologists to demonstrate their capabilities, and advancing the development of gynecology in Sichuan province.

        Other participating experts were active in making statements. They suggested to attract more young people to join the PGC with the purpose of strengthening exchanges with the international community and displaying the strength of Sichuan province on the international platform, and to encourage doctors in Sichuan province to learn from each other and share their experience through PGC, helping Sichuan’s gynecology gain international recognition.

        The preparatory group will continue to invite outstanding experts to join PGC after the meeting. According to the progress of preparations, an inaugural meeting is set on September 7, 2019 and in the coming year an international conference of academic exchanges with overseas specialists will be unveiled.
