June 9, 2019, in the second lecture of the "Famous Doctors' Lecture Hall" series sponsored by the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, Prof. Luo Ting of the Breast Center of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, was invited to clear people's doubts about the "breast diseases and their prevention".

As the most important secondary sex character of women, breast deserves every woman's lifelong concern. Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in women. In recent years, the incidence of breast cancer among Chinese women has shown a rising trend, and the onset age is getting increasingly younger. With the advancement of multidisciplinary treatment technology, the 5-year survival rate of early breast cancer can reach up to 90% or above. Only with a comprehensive understanding of the breasts, can we better care for them.

Prof. Luo Ting first explained the structure of the breast, which is composed of skin, breast gland, fat and fibrous tissue, and detailed its structure and functions.

Then she popularized the knowledge about breast diseases: The breast diseases fall into benign and malignant diseases. Mammary gland hyperplasia, fibroadenoma, and mastitis belong to benign diseases, while malignant breast diseases include breast cancer and sarcoma. Different diseases will have different hand feelings and manifestations during initial diagnosis and self-examination.

In the following interactive session, Prof. Luo taught the audience to distinguish the characteristics of various breast diseases with specially brought simulation teaching aids. The audience raised their own questions about breast diseases. Prof. Luo gave them patient and meticulous answers accordingly.

At the end of the event, the audience and on-site staff took photos with Prof. Luo Ting. Amid a pleasant atmosphere, this lecture was successfully concluded.
