On April 27, 2019, the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) officially founded its Biological Immunotherapy Professional Committee. Prof. Wei Yuquan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the SCIMEA, awarded appointment letters to Prof. Liu Jiyan, Director of the Professional Committee, as well as Prof. Wang Yongsheng, Prof. Yang Li, Prof. Wen Qinglian, and Prof. Du Xiaobo, Deputy Directors of the Committee.

Academician Wei indicated that, biotherapy, as one of the fastest growing disciplines in biomedical research field, has become an important treatment means against malignant tumors, demonstrating the great potential for further development of biotherapy in the future. The founding of the Biological Immunotherapy Professional Committee signals the establishment of a platform for personal exchanges and clinical application promotion & training in the domain of biological immunotherapy, which can raise the research level of biological treatment, facilitate the development of clinical treatment and application of biotherapy in our province, and build an achievement transformation platform for clinicians and researchers. Academician Wei hopes that under the guidance of the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, the Professional Committee will carry out actively academic exchanges and clinical research, and endeavor to enhance the overall level of the province's biotherapy.

Secretary General Zhang Mengfan read out the "Reply on the Approval of the Establishment of the Biological Immunotherapy Professional Committee of the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association".

Previously, an election meeting was held by the preparatory group of the Professional Committee.

On behalf of the preparatory group, Prof. Liu Jiyan reported the preparatory work at the meeting.

Secretary General Zhang Mengfan hosted the election of the Professional Committee's leadership, including director, deputy directors and standing members, and briefed the attendees about the relevant situation of the SCIMEA.

Prof. Liu Jiyan gave a speech as the newly elected director of the Committee.
