On January 10th, 2020, the inaugural meeting of the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association (SCIMEA) hosted by SCIMEA and West China Hospital of Sichuan University was held in Chengdu.

Liu Jin, director of Anesthesia and Surgery Center of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of SCIMEA, Li Xiangkui, director of Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences • Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Pang Bo, director of Leshan People's Hospital, Xie Xianfeng, director of Chengdu Second People's Hospital, and a number of people devoted to anesthesia in the province attended the inaugural meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Yu Haifu, representative of the preparatory group of the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology, and vice director of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, reported on the preparatory work of the committee. He mentioned that, with the strong support of SCIMEA and experts, and after careful preparations, the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology of SCIMEA was formally established that very day. Then he gave a detailed report on four aspects, including the background of the committee, the progress of the preparations, the institutions that the candidates come from, and the focus of its future work.

Afterwards, an election was held for the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology, and all the participants elected the leaders of the committee, such as the chairman, vice chairmen, and standing committees.

Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of SCIMEA, read the Approval of Establishing the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology of SCIMEA. Then she granted an appointment letter to the newly elected chairman, and then the newly elected chairman granted appointment letters to the vice chairmen.

Liu Jin, the newly elected chairman and director of Anesthesia and Surgery Center of the West China Hospital, Sichuan University, mentioned in his speech that the professional committee would cooperate earnestly and sincerely with talents from various disciplines, give full play to the role of the committee, strengthen academic cooperation, promote multidisciplinary integration, and build a platform for learning, communication, and discussion for colleagues in Anesthesiology. It will strive to develop and strengthen the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology of SCIMEA, and at the same time carry out grass-roots training, with a goal to help grass-roots workers make continuous progress and jointly provide services for the patients. He expressed his hope that with the strong support of SCIMEA and the joint efforts of anesthesia colleagues in the province, the Professional Committee of Anesthesiology of SCIMEA would make greater progress in the future.

Zhang Mengfan, secretary-general of SCIMEA briefly introduced the situation and vision of SCIMEA. She introduced the logo of SCIMEA and "Doctor Baby", its mascot, emphasizing the use of "differentiated development with characteristics" to "redefine the concept of the association". He emphasized that SCIMEA currently had nearly 3,000 individual members, with more than 130 directors, and more than 100 institutions as its members. It’s a first-class comprehensive platform that brings together members of well-known medical institutions, medical experts and members from other related fields.

SCIMEA focuses on promoting development in various fields, building an international academic exchange platform, combining "bringing in" and "going out", and at the same time cooperating with other "Belt and Road" countries, with a goal to promote international medical exchanges and medical science development in these countries.

SCIMEA will also launch the "Health, ‘Pop Star’, and Science Popularization Action" this year, when a professional committee of scientific popularization will be established. By interconnecting withTencent Video (https://v.qq.com/), Douyin (https://www.douyin.com/), Weibo (https://www.weibo.com/), and other media platforms, SCIMEA will create large-scale online health science popularization and promote multi-field cooperation. In addition, SCIMEA, China Medical Biotech Association (CMBA), and the local government will co-sponsor theBiomedical Summit Forum and Tour Exhibition. By way of "conference and exhibition", SCIMEA will make targeted design of the content and form of academic conferences, link government, academies, universities, and industry, invite leaders of pharmaceutical regulatory departments, renowned academics, and corporate elites to participate in the conferences, and attract companies from related fields to participate in the exhibition, with a goal to promote academic exchanges, enhance the influence of the city, promote achievements transformation, and lead investment introduction.
