On October 15, the International Workshop on Ferroptosis and Diseases, sponsored by Biological Trace-element Academic Subgroup of The Biophysical Society of China and Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, supported by Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, and organized by State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, Sichuan University and West China School of Basic Medical Science & Forensic Medicine, Sichuan University, was held in Chengdu successfully. With “Ferroptosis and Interdisciplinarity” as the theme of this workshop, domestic and foreign experts and young scholars from ferroptosis field were invited to carry out deep exploration and discussion on the development of ferroptosis. This workshop also attracted a large number of young scholars and students for participation.
Professor Wang Fudi of School of Public Health, Zhejiang University, and Professor Lei Peng of State Key Laboratory Biotherapy of West China Hospital, Sichuan University addressed at the workshop. Professor Wang Fudi expressed his warm congratulations on the success of this workshop, and extended his gratitude for the great support of well-known experts and young scientists at home and abroad to the workshop. Through this workshop, Professor Lei Peng hoped to promote the development of ferroptosis and create a new platform of interdisciplinary integration.
Professor Marcus Conrad of Institute of Developmental Genetics, Helmholtz Zentrum München, Germany, Professor Wang Fudi of School of Public Health, Zhejiang University, Professor Wang Weimin of School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Min Junxia of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Professor Geng Xin of School of Basic Medical Sciences, Tianjin Medical University, and Professor Lei Peng of State Key Laboratory Biotherapy of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, gave reports respectively. The content included the development of ferroptosis, and related research combined with tumors, inflammation and other disciplines. It involved a comprehensive system with abundant information, and more importantly it was greatly forward-looking, which aroused great interest, new inspiration and thinking of participating representatives at home and abroad.
Distinguished Professor Scoville of School of Medicine, University of Connecticut, Professor and Director Yan Riqiang of Department of Neuroscience, Professor Yuan Zengqiang of Brain Science Center of Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Professor Zhu Xinhong of School of Basic Medical Science, Southern Medical University, Professor Guo Chuang of School of Life Science and Health, Northeastern University, and Professor Zhao Yingjun of Institute of Neuroscience, Xiamen University, also gave great reports at the workshop.
The content included research on neurodegenerative diseases and related reports on ferroptosis and diseases.
This workshop also established a young scholar forum. Scholars from ferroptosis field explored and discussed on the latest research progress with participating guests. The workshop site was packed.
Everyone actively joined the discussion at the workshop, and continued to learn from each other after it. The workshop attracted numerous attendants to communicate with each other under the fair, open and free academic atmosphere.
