In a regular internal training held duly in the Secretariat of the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association on June 17, 2019, Senior Consultant Zhou Shumin of the Association gave a lecture on how to manage time efficiently.
First, Ms. Zhou pointed out: Because time cannot be stored, the time owned by everyone is equal. Time is also the fairest and most valuable resource. According to the well-known Parkinson's Law, the work will automatically fill up all the available time of a person; as long as there is time, the work will continue to expand, so a plan and a deadline must be set before doing anything. Time management implies more efficient use of time, instead of the amount of things completed within a specified time. To improve work efficiency through time management and achieve higher returns with limited resources – this is the significance of time management.
Next, Ms. Zhou said, as for the lack of time, in addition to external factors such as environmental factors and organizational factors, there are also personal factors; all kinds of negative factors can actually be avoided or reduced by establishing goals and plans in advance; as for work plan management, refer to the SMART Principle, the Six-Priority Work System[U1] , the 80/20 Principle, the Four Quadrants, and the Moffat Rest Law to set goals, prioritize things, and avoid the dilemma of procrastination, urgency, and interruption.
"Tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes. How many tomorrows there will be? If I live in the world just waiting for tomorrow, nothing will ever be done." After listening to Ms. Zhou's lecture, the colleagues of the Association have a deeper understanding of time management, declaring that they will cherish every minute of time, use resources and make plans more rationally, and work more efficiently in the limited time, in a view to make a contribution to the future development of the Association.
