The 2019 Meishan (Chengdu) Bio-pharmaceutical Industry Promotion Conference was successfully convened in Chengdu on July 5th, 2019. The “Western Medical Valley” bio-pharmaceutical industry prioritized by Meishan signed 7 projects on the spot, with a contracted amount totaling CNY 3.6 billion. And a strategic cooperation agreement was reached between the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association and the People's Government of Dongpo District, Meishan City.
Secretary Zhu Li of the Dongpo District Party Committee attended the promotion event and gave a speech. Lu Mingchun, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Meishan Economic Development Zone's New Area, made a promotion for the local bio-pharmaceutical industry and related projects. The event was witnessed by Liao Xiaoning, member of the Standing Committee of Dongpo District Party Committee and Executive Deputy Head of the District Government (presiding over the work of the district government), Qin Xi, Deputy Secretary General of Meishan Municipal Government, and Deputy Director of Meishan Administration for Market Regulation, and Li Qiuyan, member of the Standing Committee of Dongpo District Party Committee. Ms. Zhang Mengfan, Secretary General of Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association, attended the promotion conference under invitation, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Dongpo District, Meishan City.
As one of the three leading industries in Dongpo District, the bio-pharmaceutical industry has become an important growth pole for its economic development in recent years. Since the beginning of this year, Dongpo District, pinpointing the target of the state's "Top 100 Districts in Comprehensive Strength", has been striving to achieve new breakthroughs in six key areas, such as opening up and major projects. Sticking to its development orientation, the Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association pools talents and wisdom to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chengdu and Meishan, in an effort to contribute to the deepened exchanges and cooperation in the field of biomedicine between the two places, the innovative development of bio-pharmaceutical industry in the "Western Medical Valley" of Meishan, and the concerted progress of both cities.
Right before the conference, Secretary General Zhang Mengfan of the SCIMEA had a meeting with Secretary Zhu Li of the Dongpo District Party Committee. The two sides held detailed consultations on cooperation issues like setting up the "'Thousand Talents Program' Experts' Mobile Station" in the "Western Medical Valley" and holding high-caliber international bio-pharmaceutical forum.

Lu Mingchun, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Meishan Economic Development Zone's New Area, made a project promotion. Secretary Lu highlighted that: Meishan is the city nearest to Chengdu, only 60 kilometers away from Shuangliu and Tianfu international airports; as an important part of the national-level development zone, Tianfu New Area, "Integration into Chengdu" has been included in the development strategy of the provincial party committee; the superior conditions has made Meishan the second city in the province, only after Chengdu, with the largest number of branches of the world top 500 enterprises. After the development of more than 9 years, "Western Medical Valley — Meishan Economic Development Zone's New Area" has attracted 52 pharmaceutical and supporting enterprises to settle down, and attracted a total investment exceeding CNY 24 billion, including 10 projects with an input of over CNY 500 million each, and 40 projects with an input of over CNY 100 million each, plus core technologies and independent innovation capability; Meishan welcomes more entrepreneurs to pay more attention to and invest more in the Western Medical Valley, he added.
Subsequently, Wang Li, Chairman of WestChina-Frontier PharmaTech and General Manager of Sichuan Greenhouse Biotechnology Co., Ltd., made a speech. Chairman Wang Li personally participated in the whole process of site selection, construction, implementation and operation management of the experimental macaque project of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, as well as the entire course of introduction, design & planning, construction and development of Meishan Greentech Efficacy Evaluation Base project. She spoke highly of the support and assistance provided by Meishan Municipal Government and Dongpo District Government, and hopes that Meishan's bio-pharmaceutical industry development strategy would become an important opportunity for the industry and enterprises to achieve win-win cooperation.
The Sichuan International Medical Exchange & Promotion Association and the People's Government of Dongpo District of Meishan City signed a strategic cooperation agreement on jointly promoting the development of the Western Medical Valley.
At the meeting, a centralized signing ceremony for the projects concerning the “Western Medical Valley” was held, during which a total of seven projects were signed, with a total contractual amount of CNY 3.6 billion. This year, the “Western Medical Valley” has signed 15 projects, and overfulfilled the tasks assigned by the City and the District in advance, fully demonstrating a momentum of booming development.
Over 170 persons attended this event, including the representatives of the heads of 100 plus key pharmaceutical companies including Haisco Pharmaceutical, Kelun Pharmaceutical, Luye Pharma, Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical, Hainan Haiyao, Liandong Group, Good Doctor Pharmaceutical, Kanghong Pharmaceutical, Saizhuo Pharmacy, China Wesley, Chengdu EMT, and Luyan Pharma, as well as the professionals from Sichuan Pharmaceutical Industry Association, Europe-China Investment Association, and Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce in Hong Kong, among others.
