Dr. Long-Qi Chen obtained his PhD Degree in 2003 from University of Montreal, Canada. He now works in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. He is the director of the department, professor of surgery and PhD supervisor. He is also the Director in Executive Committee, International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), and the Executive Director of Chinese Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (CSDE). He works as the Standing Committee Member in Esophageal Cancer Branch of China Anticancer Association (CACA), and in Thoracic Surgeon Branch of China Medical Doctor Association (CMDA).
With more than 35 years working in the field of thoracic surgery, he is mainly focusing on esophageal diseases. He led the task of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He was invited to participate in AJCC conducted Worldwide Esophageal Cancer Collaboration (WECC) project to define the 7th (2009) and 8th Edition (2016) of TNM staging system for esophageal cancer.
